Moles Moles (nevi) are growths on the skin that are usually formed by groups of pigment containing cells. There are a number of different nevi. Congenital nevi are moles we are born with or appear in the early years of life. Certain congenital nevi have a higher risk of forming into cancerous melanoma, and should be monitored by your doctor. Moles can be removed by your doctor. Moles are usually removed surgically and sent to a pathologist to examine under a microscope for any atypicality. |
