Nothing is quite as beautiful as soft, smooth, wrinkle-free skin.
Unfortunately, skin changes are part of the natural aging process. Over time, our skin becomes less elastic. Smoking, stress, sun exposure, excessive alcohol, pollutants in the air and illness all conspire to create lines, wrinkles and scars.
Until now, our only solutions to this problem have been bovine (cow) collagen injections, which can cause allergic reactions, or synthetic fillers that feel unnatural. Now, our doctor performs Dermalogen treatments for patients in our region to offer a safe, natural alternative to synthetic and bovine tissue fillers.
What is Dermalogen?
Dermalogen is an injectable human dermal implant material made from donated skin and recovered by an American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited tissue bank in New Jersey. Recovery is strictly regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and follows the guidelines of the AATB. These guidelines are the same for other donated human tissue material indicated for transplantation to repair or replace damaged or inadequate dermal tissue. This includes kidneys, hearts, corneas, bone, and other tissues generously donated by individuals or their families.
Is Dermalogen safe?
Yes. The tissue bank rigorously screens all tissue donors' medical records, their cause of death and social history. Blood samples are meticulously tested and certified using standards set and licensed by the FDA. All donors must be found negative for Syphilis, Hepatitis B and C, and free from HIV Types 1 and 2. Only tissue that has passed all tests is processed into Dermalogen. In addition, the tissue is treated with powerful anti-viral agents before being processed into Dermalogen.
What about the HIV virus?
Since HIV is a human parasitic virus, it requires certain types of live human cells to be present in order to survive. These cells are removed during the processing of Dermalogen, thereby eliminating the possibility of survival or transmission of these types of viruses. For additional protection, all Dermalogen is treated with powerful anti-viral agents before being processed.
How is Dermalogen used?
Dermalogen is used to treat facial contour defects. The most common treatments include:
- naso-labial folds
- frown lines
- peri-oral lines
- depressed scars
- lips
Do the treatments hurt? How many will I need?
Even though Dermalogen is injected through a tiny needle, most patients prefer to have some local anesthetic. Typically 2 - 3 treatments over a 3 month period are sufficient to correct most dermal defects. Since the results are progressive, you will notice more correction with each treatment.
Some of the benefits of the Dermalogen implant are:
- Since it is human tissue, it should not provoke any inflammatory response or allergic reaction
- It is soft and pliable with a natural feel
- There is no need to harvest tissue from another site on your body
- Dermalogen can be used alone or in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels or facial surgery
What will I feel like after my treatment?
After our doctor performs your Dermalogen treatment, discomfort is minimal. After receiving Dermalogen injections for the lips and nasal labial fold areas, patients are up and around immediately. Any discomfort following the procedure can be controlled with medication. There may be some bruising, which can be covered with make-up. Most patients return to normal activities the next day. What our patients like the most about Dermalogen is that it's natural, they don't have to worry about allergic reactions, and they look great!
If you want a natural solution to get rid of your wrinkles, Dermalogen is for you.
